VOx STAFF

Leanne Boone

Executive Director

Leanne has a BS in education from the University of West Georgia. She taught elementary students for 6 years in Gwinnett Co. Georgia.  She served on staff at Look Up Lodge to gain 18 years experience in Christian camping and discipleship of young women.

Jeff Johnson

Director of Discipleship and Outreach

Jeff moved with his wife, Clarissa, and four children from Orlando, Florida, to join the Vox team in the summer of 2018. He spent 13 years at Orangewood Christian School as both a teacher of Biblical Studies and the Head of Spiritual Life Development. He took a leadership role with his church, NewCity Orlando, as the “Mercy Ministry Liaison” connecting church members with opportunities to do justice in the city. His family also spent two years serving with NewCity Parramore Ave., an inner-city church plant.

Jeff grew up mainly in Central Florida and spent most summers in South America on mission trips. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Liberty University, he played professional soccer for seven years. Jeff was greatly impacted during experiences with Torchbearers International, which included an outdoor adventure program in New Zealand and a gap year Bible school in Sweden. These experiences fueled the fire for him to eventually make the move to join the ministry of Vox School of Discipleship.

Jeff’s two passions are mentoring/discipleship and “livening up” the church towards doing justice.

Bonnie McCrary

Student Life Director

Bonnie is Student Life Director and a proud Vox alumna. She loves witnessing God work His wonders in the lives of the Voxers. Her position includes helping with the photography, videography, social media, facilitating worship, building relationships with the students, and playing an essential role on each of the various trips throughout the year.

Since graduating Vox in 2015, the Lord has opened doors to an array of incredible experiences; a trailblazing university degree, photographic work, missions in Costa Rica, camping and adventure leadership, international student ministry, high budget media ministry, even a quick stint in the film industry. She even worked as a barista on occasion, meaning she can make a mean shot of espresso.

She loves the hands on aspect of Vox because she believes experiential learning is what moves people to the next level; of faith, life, and beyond.

Tommy Rutt

Director of Adventure

Tommy is passionate about God's word, discipleship, and the outdoors. He joined the Vox team in 2022 and has a strong desire to see students place a deep-rooted faith in Jesus and live fiercely on mission with Jesus. He loves a good adventure and is always down to sit around a fire anytime the temperature drops below 70 degrees.

Tommy grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and after graduating high school, he went to a one-year bible school in Estes Park, Colorado, called Ravencrest Chalet. While there, he felt a strong call to ministry and decided to attend Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina, where he double majored in Bible and Bible Teaching. He did student teaching at Southside Christian School in Greenville, SC, was a resident at The Church of Eleven22 in Jacksonville, FL, and was a Youth Pastor at Summit Church in Southwest Florida until 2022.

Founder

Josh Pedersen

Founder of Vox School Of Discipleship

As an 18 year old, Josh encountered a discipleship school that marked him forever. It wasn’t just a season of spiritual growth—it was a defining moment, one that shaped his understanding of purpose, identity, and the Kingdom of God. The experience planted a seed deep within his soul, a seed that would grow quietly for years until it bore fruit in the form of Vox in 2015.

He never forgot the impact that season had on him— the honest conversations, the transformation that came through Scripture, service, and community. He knew what it meant to be seen, challenged, and formed into the image of Christ. And he knew the world needed more places like that.

Vox was born from that memory. But it wasn’t just nostalgia— it was vision. He dreamed of a place where young men and women could be awakened to their calling, where faith wasn’t theoretical but lived, where discipleship was more than a program— it was a way of life.

Through his leadership, numerous students have walked through the doors of Vox and found not only themselves, but God in deeper, truer ways. His faith inspired action. His obedience made room for others. His vision became a legacy. What began as a whisper in his heart became a voice— vox —calling others to follow Jesus with everything they are. We thank God for his faithfulness, for the school he built, and for the ripple effect that will echo for generations.

Well done, faithful servant. Your legacy lives on in every disciple raised, every heart changed, and every voice awakened.
